Description:

Radiology Clerical Officer - Band 2 - Permanent
The Department of Radiology is looking to recruit a full-time Clerical Officer to join the administration team, the post holder will be providing administration and reception support for all modalities within Radiology.
The successful candidate will need to have previous experience of reception work, preferably in a healthcare setting, in addition to being well organised, motivated and be flexible to meet the needs of the service.
The Radiology reception service operates on a rota system between the hours of 8.00 am and 9.00 pm seven days per week. Please note that these hours are the contracted hours and candidates must be available to work all shift patterns.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high quality clerical service to facilitate the effective organisation of the departments clerical structure. They will be required to work across the department offering support to both clinical and non clinical staff members.
To provide clerical support to the Department of Radiology; working in all modalities on rotation as a member of the team.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Must demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to exchange information with patients who have a variety of barriers to understanding.

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the reception of patients attending for radiological examinations.
  • To use the computer systems (CRIS, Lorenzo, iFIT) to maintain and update patient and departmental records.
  • To process appointment cancellations and ensure patients are re-listed to receive a further appointment as required.
  • Requesting and receipt of health records as required using iFIT system.
  • To provide assistance as rostered within the Radiology Booking Office (telephoning patients following departmental protocols with appointment reminders, pre-scanning information or informing patients if their appointment is to be cancelled at short notice, for example, in the

event of scanning equipment failure)

  • Booking of ambulance transport and interpreters as required.
  • To ensure prompt retrieval of referrals via the “order-comms” system.
  • To deal with telephone calls and enquiries from wards, departments, medical practitioners, members of the public and other hospitals.
  • To be responsible for the burning of imaging CD’s and electronic transfer of images to external NHS Trusts.
  • To retrieve and file referral cards in chronological order.
  • To assist in the training of newer members of staff and, on occasion students, on work placement
  • To work on a rota system in modalities as directed by the Reception Supervisor.
  • To assist in stock control and inform Supervisor/Superintendent Radiographer of any requirements.
  • To ensure good communications with all grades of staff whilst liaising with other departments.
  • To ensure that all departmental safety policies & procedures and fire regulations are observed.
  • To report any hazards or potential hazards.
