Description:

Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel to, from and through Brisbane in the future. It will be a catalyst for 10 years of wider rail transformation across the whole of South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class ‘ETCS’ signalling system.

About the Role
As Rail Operational Planning Lead, you will collaborate closely with Cross River Rail (CRR) project teams, Queensland Rail, and the Department of Transport and Main Roads to manage and coordinate the strategic operational planning of Cross River Rail project works into operations. A key focus will be establishing framework and setting up the program to support ongoing management of operational functionality changes required to transition into the broader transport network.
This is a newly formed role in a newly formed team. The successful candidate will bring their experience in rail operations planning to be at the forefront of establishing a process to actively manage risk and changes to ensure works to support the sequencing of Cross River Rail project milestones are meeting operational functional requirements.
This position reports to the Cross River Rail Opening Manager and will sit within a multi-disciplinary team who will manage and coordinate the planning and preparations for the Cross River Rail to be ready for operations. This opportunity is offered as a contract until August 2026 with possible extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the CRR Opening Manager for meetings with the Project stakeholders, providing operational advice that can assist senior decision makers on operational outcomes.
  • Lead the development and implementation of components of the Network Infrastructure State framework including operational outcomes, stakeholder requirements and design and delivery of the CRR project.
  • Develop and implement components of the Network Infrastructure State framework, focusing on operational outcomes, stakeholder requirements, and design and delivery of the CRR project.
  • Work collaboratively and lead engagements with Brisbane City Council, Department of Transport and Main Roads, Queensland Rail and contractors to ensure key project, network and operational outcomes are achieved.
  • Proactively identify risks, issues and opportunities, and assist with developing mitigation strategies as required, related to the delivery of key sponsor requirements, assets into operations and network objectives.
  • Provide support for executive level briefings and engagement to support operational objectives and manage any emerging risks or issues.
  • Report progress and manage issues and risks related to Steady State Operationalisation.
