The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Rail Division seeks a candidate with exceptional organizational and coordination abilities, with strong attention to detail for the role of Rail Projects Engineer. In this position, you will work closely with the Chief Railroad Engineer and Statewide Railroad Engineer. Principle DutiesAs the Rail Projects Engineer, you will: Assist with selection of railroad safety improvement projects, including Railroad Grant projects and Section 130 funds.Review, update, and create documents including but not limited to standards, rules, and manuals.Coordinate items and updates associated with Railroad projects and programming.Coordinate with Railroads, FHWA, FTA, and FRA.Coordinate with Regions, including the review of railroad agreements for UDOT and local government projects.Have monthly updates with Region Utility and Railroad Coordinators.Tracking agreements and contracts.Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned relative to statewide railroad issues.The Ideal CandidateThe best candidate for this position will: Be registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah.Have at least two years of of engineering experience following licensure as a PE.PreferencesPreference may be given to those who have at least one of the following: Railroad coordination related experience.Agreement and Contract experience.Safety oversight experience.Supplemental InformationHere is some information of which you should be aware: Travel is required.Working Conditions - Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Onsite visits to project locations or event locations with proper PPE would also be required. Physical Requirements - Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, maneuvering around rail crossing locations, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Group Leader.Why Should You Join Our Team?The work we do matters.
