Description:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ recent experience (within the last 8 years) performing administrative support work preferably at a police detachment.
  • Familiarity with RCMP policies and procedures, the Criminal Code of Canada, Federal, Provincial and Municipal statutes and bylaws.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to records management, including security of information.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to deal courteously, firmly, tactfully, and diplomatically with the public, and to relay emergency situations to the appropriate contacts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts and work with little or no supervision on assigned projects/assignments.
  • Proficient computer skills with demonstrated ability to work with computer applications such as Microsoft Office suite, data management and office equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to consistently deliver work of a high degree of accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and knowledge may be considered if deemed acceptable by the Employer.
    The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance.
    The terms and conditions of employment are covered by the CUPE Local 401 Collective Agreement. The rate of pay will be $34.23/hr ($34.92/hr effective July 1, 2024). Successful applicants will be expected to work 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, as outlined in the current Collective Agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the public by telephone and/or in-person by responding to inquiries and receiving, documenting and creating operational police files.
  • Complete and process appropriate forms such as incident reports, motor vehicle documents, Police Certificates, foreign pension forms, etc., using a variety of records management and digital systems.
  • Coordinate, review and complete all Criminal Record Check (PIC) applications utilizing the BC PRIME, CPIC, and CCRTS (fingerprints) systems.
  • Receive and initiate found property reports as necessary ensuring Exhibit control compliance in support of detachment processes.
  • Maintain radio communication using standard operating radio procedures, as necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain assigned Records Management System queues in support of the detachment Records department, as necessary.
  • Coordinate all monthly high-volume false alarm occurrence files.
  • Receive payments for criminal record check applications, fingerprints and release of information to other agencies.
  • Provide financial support services, such as the collection and recording of monies received, verifying supplier invoices, and preparing invoices
  • Deliver a broad range of administrative and clerical support services, such as: receive, sort, file and distribute mail; arrange courier services; compose internal and external correspondence.
  • Participates in committees (e.g. Health and Safety) and meetings, and record activities/take minutes.
  • Coordinate and arrange for the repair and maintenance of the detachment’s property and assets (e.g. office equipment, vehicle fleet, etc.)
  • Takes fingerprints for non-criminal purposes.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
