QUALIFICATIONS AND EVALUATIONS

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

One year of experience as an administrative support or in the field of disability services and reasonable accommodations is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Basic understanding of the wide variety of subjects that encompass the work of a political-coned Foreign Service Officer. Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style preferred Knowledge of Sighted Guide Technique and other techniques used to guide those with vision disabilities
Education Requirements:
Two years of College or University Studies is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: “This may be tested.”
Level IV - Fluent (reading, speaking and writing) English is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The ability to obtain and hold a Top-Secret security clearance
Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

The services of Reader Assistant (RA) are essential to a visually impaired employee’s ability to perform the essential functions of their job and enjoy equal access to the rights and benefits of the workplace. RA conveys visual information to a visually impaired person that is not otherwise accessible with technology. They do this by assisting the employee or applicant in reading, writing, observing, describing, and navigating the physical environment, including by pointing out landmarks to assist in locating places and pointing out potential hazards.
