Description:
Demonstrates advanced specialist practice, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients throughout the pre-operative pathway.
Responsible for the quality of care delivered within the clinical area, empowering and enabling the peri-operative team.
Works collaboratively and co-operatively with members of the multi disciplinary team to deliver Operating Theatre Services and provide expert advice and support for other healthcare professional and agencies.
Deputises for the Team Leader when required.
To provide senior clinical expertise and be a professional role model with the ability to confidently lead a theatre team in the absence of a Team Leader, in the provision of high quality service and to demonstrate clinical expertise by giving direct peri-operative care e.g. Surgery, anaesthetics, recovery.
Demonstrate advanced practice in a range of diagnostic procedures, analysing and interpreting data in order to inform appropriate decision making, and take action in accordance with agrees protocols e.g. Arterial blood sampling, 12 lead ECG
Undertake staff supervision, performance development reviews, ensuring issues of poor competence/performance are communicated to the Team Leader and an agreed action plan is developed and implemented.
Take responsibility for the preparation and implementation of staff duty rota, annual leave rota, ensuring the allocation/skill mix of staff is made in accordance to the competencies and workload requirements in order to meet the specialist needs of the unit.
To be proficient and knowledgeable in a broad spectrum of specialities in order to provide complex specialist care for patients throughout the peri-operative pathway, and to guide staff in appropriate decision making.
