Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for on-campus and off-campus student recruiting events for SCIENCE, recruiting assessments, program assistance for the College of Science Mentoring and Inclusion Collaborative (COSMIC), and holistic advising for COSMIC participants. The Recruitment & Inclusive Excellence Coordinator will serve under the direction of the Director of Recruitment & Inclusive Excellence. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
45% - Essential - Program Coordination/Recruiting: Coordinate intentional programming for recruitment and retention of undergraduate students. Invite faculty, staff, and students to recruiting and COSMIC events. On-board, train, and supervise SCIENCE Student Ambassadors and COSMIC Mentors. Select COSMIC mentees. Maintain and update recruitment presentations and videos. Collaborate with others to ensure proper program management. Promote professional, social, and community activities within the mentoring affinity groups. Assist with management of undergraduate student employees.
35% - Essential - Student Services/Counseling: Serve as a resource for COSMIC students. Provide individual and/or group guidance and counseling as needed. Train and advise students in weekly mentoring classes. Write recommendation letters. Review first-year and transfer students’ midterm grades and offer advice to those in need of academic assistance. Encourage high-achieving students to apply to the Honors College, scholarships, research experiences, etc. Maintain student records. Serve as a resource for incoming and continuing students.
10% - Essential - Electronic Media: Manage Recruitment & Inclusive Excellence presence on electronic media, including University web pages, social media outlets, and university list-serves. Maintain email accounts, list-serves, and Canvas accounts. Advertise scholarships, REUs, co-ops, and internships as needed.
5% - Essential - Assessment: Assess individual ambassador and mentor performance. Assist with COSMIC program assessments. Lead undergraduate recruiting assessments. Seek funding opportunities to support COSMIC. Attend continuing education and staff development opportunities. Maintain compliance with University policies.
5% - Essential - Program Liaison for faculty/staff/students: Maintain active relationships with student services personnel, SCIENCE departments, and University personnel, including professionals in scholarships, financial aid, UPIC, Career Center, University-level mentoring programs, and admissions. Work with SCIENCE Director of Alumni Relations to garner COSMIC alumni support and engagement.
