POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Inter-Governmental Affairs and in assistance to the Referrals Coordinator, the Referrals Clerk will operate efficiently in accordance with the philosophies, policies, and objectives established by Seabird Island Band Management.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificate in Business Administration considered an asset.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years’ of office and clerical experience
  • Experience in creating and maintain filing systems.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, multitask, and to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Seabird Island Traditional Territory an asset
  • Knowledge of Seabird history and culture an asset
  • Knowledge of Land Codes an asset

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.)
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to agree as well as adhere to Seabird Island Band Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Information Technology (IT) Policies and Procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó: lō culture, traditions and language or willingness to learn.
  • Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, Record, and track all incoming referrals addressed to Seabird Island Band
  • Acknowledge receipt of the referral as per the given template to the proponent
  • Help with implementation of the Referral Framework
  • Respond with quotes as initial contact and pass on referral where appropriate.
  • Refer inquiries to the website once established.
  • Enter referrals onto a database.
  • Compile referrals as per the different categories and provide demographics.
  • Setup calendar appointments for review of the referrals
  • Help maintain a filing system for all the referrals.
  • Attend meetings, take notes or minutes of meetings and distribute to the relevant groups.
  • Assist with communicate with the Referrals Committee with regards to tracking
  • Work collaboratively with the Lands Department
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director, or Chief & Council.
