Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is one of the largest human services providers in California. The agency operates a variety of programs to serve the poor and strives to find permanent solutions to crises by offering clients the tools and resources they need to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives. The San Pedro Region provides basic assistance with food, shelter, utilities, clothing, transportation, case management and linkages to community resources for the homeless and low-income households. The Region is also responsible for two homeless shelters one of which is a family shelter to assist homeless families, pregnant women, the disabled and the elderly that moves families from crises to stability. The second shelter is a Bridge Housing shelter for homeless single men and women. The region is also responsible for three community centers of which two serve as a food pantry.
The San Pedro Region is seeking a professional, creative, driven Region/Program Development manager who is enthusiastic and a team player. The ideal candidate will report to the program director and must have the ability to multi-task. The Development Manager will be responsible for a variety of administrative and management task relating to cultivating, solicitation, development and fundraising, which will be goal –driven and results-based.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration, fund development, communications or related field.
  • Five to seven years of experience in development and professional fundraising.
  • Knowledge in Fund raising techniques, particularly donor database, direct mail and major gift fundraising,
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
  • Be a “self-starter” and goad driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • B organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License & reliable transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Regional or Program Director to establish both short and long-term fundraising goals.
  • Develop, analyze and execute the Region’s annual fundraising plan and events.
  • Manage the implementation and oversee the staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.
  • Track proposals and reports for all donors, grants and fundraising activity.
  • Conducts ongoing research on the development of funding sources.
  • Analyze and create project scope and milestones for the Region.
  • Formulates proposals, applies for grants, and initiates other communications in the solicitation of funds.
  • Generate development mailings and publications to highlight region and programs.
  • Meets with representatives of foundations and corporations to cultivate their assistance in the Region’s programs.
  • Works with various programs to plan and implement special fundraising events.
  • Maintains necessary records and completes required reports.
  • Meet with Foundation executives, corporate representatives and individuals, especially those whose guidelines encompass assistance for the poor and the homeless.
  • Communicate with donors from proposal writing, thorough follow-up to acknowledgement of gifts, and subsequent contacts.
  • Development Publications to include writing, layout, and printing.
