Description:

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in any role which involves cooking in domestic or commercial property
  • Must hold a full UK driver’s license
  • Food Safety CIEH L2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post
  • Must be able to articulate and provide evidence of sound Knowledge of COSHH
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirement around food allergies

EXPERIENCE DESIRABLE:

  • Experience in any role that involved cooking for young children in a commercial setting
  • Understanding of EHO process
  • Ability to transfer skills across different settings

QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To prepare, cook and present age-appropriate food to high standards in a clean, tidy, safe, and pleasant environment. Work in partnership with the nursery team and parents always to support the nurseries care and education provision. Keep accurate records of supplies and order replacements as needed within the nursery budget requirements.
This role requires working in collaboration with others and taking responsibility for working in line with regulatory requirements and BH policies and procedures.
To induct, coach and mentor other chefs and advise and support new menu development.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume management of a Kitchen on a temporary basis
  • Serve as a positive representative of the organization for nurseries in transitional situations, acquisitions, nurseryopenings, Manager Changes, maternity leaves, holiday cover etc.
  • Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment adhering to internal and external requirements
  • Encourage and model behaviour which is appropriate in a child environment being always professional
  • To make sure you meet the legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health & hygiene at all items and necessary paperwork is completed
  • To prepare and cook enough age-appropriate food for all the children daily with minimum wastage
  • Take responsibility to make sure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams
  • To respond appropriately to issues requiring confidentiality: for example, being aware of personal information regarding children
  • Support, promote and implement policies and procedures
  • Work in co-operation and partnership with the Nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet
  • Ensure that budgetary requirements are met
  • Use nominated suppliers and ensure all deliveries are accurate and paperwork is kept up to date
  • Support with other activities with the nursery e.g., BBQ’s, Fetes, Staff meetings, children’s cookery clubs, parent workshops
  • To take reasonable care of yourself and others and to comply with company Health and Safety guidelines
  • Support the manager and work as a team to ensure a good or better inspection outcome
  • Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting things done
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, providing flexible cover and support across the geographical locations within the division. Must hold a full UK driver’s license.
