REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified to practice law in Saudi Arabia or the UAE. International qualifications will be considered.
  • At least five (5) years post-qualification experience (PQE) in a commercial and regulatory role preferably gained at a top-tier law firm or in-house with a global fintech company.
  • Experienced in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions or agreements, including cross-border commercial work.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and risk assessment capabilities, with good judgment and commitment to delivering results.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills; comfortable in coordinating and communicating with non-legal stakeholders.
  • Experience in fintech, payments and payments licensing, and/or e-commerce regulation is advantageous.
  • Highly organised and independent, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure and work to challenging deadlines.
  • Arabic language skills are desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and oversee legal commercial, regulatory and corporate matters across key markets in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE) and North Africa (Egypt and Morocco).
  • Provide extended support for the company’s legal affairs in EU markets as required.
  • Advise cross-functional stakeholders and provide pragmatic solutions in support of regional business initiatives, including analysis and assessment of new products, features, or business lines, or legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements for existing business activities.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements, mainly SaaS (digital payments) agreements, as well as, occasionally, third-party vendor agreements, outsourcing or service agreements, and corporate group structuring agreements.
  • Respond to enquiries from various functions, including management, Global Partnerships Team, Finance, Treasury, People & Talent, Marketing, and Customer Support on applicable legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Instruct, coordinate and manage external counsel networks throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Oversee cross-functional projects within the region and coordinate with non-legal stakeholders.
  • Work with a global team of lawyers who are agile, practical, solution-focused, and business-minded.
