Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. Mine Action and Disarmament’s vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by Explosive Ordnance (EO). Currently, NPA has more than 20 Mine Action Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, South East Europe and the Middle East.
REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant higher education and professional experience and/or equivalent military education and professional experience
- Minimum seven years relevant professional experience from non-profit management, programming or private/public sector
- Strong networking capability, with well-developed international network within the mine action and disarmament sector
- Demonstrated ability to convey complex messages in a clear and thorough way to different types of audience with national authorities, at embassies and in international organizations
- Excellent written and verbal English language proficiency
- Good Information & Communications Technology (ICT) skills
- Knowledge of a Scandinavian Language
- Ability and motivation for traveling internationally.
You have good leadership skills as well as strong strategic and analytical capabilities. You have demonstrated ability for good judgment, sensitivity and discretion towards different cultural and political contexts. As a person you are creative, proactive and have a positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Be a member of the DMAD management team
- Management of existing programmes and projects and seeking new opportunities within the assigned regional portfolio
- Responsible for ensuring that the programmes and projects within the regional portfolio delivers outputs, outcomes and results in accordance with requirements as agreed with beneficiaries, donors and other key stakeholders
- In collaboration with DMAD management team, develop the department’s overall strategic direction, including thematic priorities, geographical focus and choice of country programmes
- Responsibility for the recruitment and line management of Country Directors and assigned DMAD advisors/senior advisors
- Together with assigned advisors/senior advisors establish and follow up individualised competence development plans.
