This role will be remote, preferably based on the East Coast, with some travel.
Discovery Land Company is seeking a full-time, Regional HR Director to join the Human Resources Department to provide support to the on-site HR team at several DLC properties.
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will bring extensive professional experience and an adaptable outlook to our fast-paced and changing environment. The Regional Director of Human Resources will support the VP of Human Resources by helping to oversee several DLC project’s on-site HR operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CHRO and VP of HR to drive business-critical HR initiatives, aligning HR programs, processes, and projects with strategic business objectives.
  • Deliver exceptional service by providing best-in-class HR support to employees and internal customers.
  • Assist in updating HR policies and handbooks, ensuring compliance with current labor laws.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures consistently, participating in policy reviews to enhance employee experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including HR business partners and leadership teams at various locations.
  • Ensure that all HR projects are in compliance with local labor laws.
  • Assist with employee onboarding processes, including orientation and paperwork related to benefits enrollment.
  • Support the offboarding process, working with managers on terminations and conducting exit interviews.
  • Administer and coordinate benefits, ensuring effective communication and implementation.
  • Partner with learning and development department to assist with developing and delivering training content for onboarding, compliance, and service training as required.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify training needs, provide resources, and adapt content and delivery to local needs.
  • Develop both informal and formal employee recognition programs aligned with the company’s brand and culture.
  • Administer the performance review process and manage annual compensation adjustments.
  • Contribute to company-wide talent initiatives, including job description creation, intake calls, and audits of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Provide support in talent management, succession planning, and employee mobility.
  • Manage and administer the global mobility of talent, ensuring continuity, compliance with laws, and optimal employee experience.
  • Assist with international recruitment processes, focusing on H2B Visa procedures.
  • Handle employee relations, including workers’ compensation administration and conducting internal investigations as needed.
  • Coach managers in addressing and resolving various Employee Relations issues and performance matters.
  • Collaborate with HR partners to ensure accurate, up-to-date employee information in payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Conduct audits and updates in the Workday HRIS system.
  • Remain up-to-date of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure company compliance.
  • Assist in creating, interpreting, and utilizing reports to derive actionable data insights.
  • Partner with HR and leadership in budget review and setting, aligning with strategic planning and organizational goals.
  • Assist in drafting legal contracts, including sales contracts, labor contracts, and severance agreements, as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Provide hands-on support for projects during periods of understaffing, ensuring continuity and efficiency in HR operations and services.
  • Actively partner across all departments to support HR initiatives and business objectives, fostering a collaborative environment for organizational success.
  • Support the CHRO and Vice President of Human Resources in all aspects of HR and in implementing new initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in HR/people operations, including at least 3 years as a Sr. HR Business Partner.
  • Experience in guest-facing, hospitality, or design/development/construction industries is advantageous.
  • Preference for candidates with global HR experience, showcasing proficiency in navigating diverse cultural and regulatory landscapes.
  • Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP are highly preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes talent acquisition and talent management, with a solid grasp of relevant employment laws.
  • Proven track record as a trusted advisor to business leaders, contributing strategic insights and solutions.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities, with an aptitude for assessing situations in the context of overarching business strategies and translating them into actionable plans and results.
  • Data-driven and analytical mindset, valuing the use of facts and data to guide, advise, and influence managers, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, essential for supporting and engaging with a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated passion for service, aligning with our commitment to serve our internal team members enthusiastically.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, ready to pivot to new projects and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial and business acumen, enabling effective management and strategic planning within the HR domain.
