Position Title: Director, Government Programs

SKILLS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB

The ideal candidate will be a people integrator with a proven track record in government program capture, compliance, solution engineering and program administration. It is viewed that the candidate is likely either to come directly from the global forwarding industry or from the Government & Defence sector that buys global forwarding services, such that the person will have in-depth appreciation of global forwarding and logistics. The candidate must have experience with US Government Agencies, US Government Contractors and/or Foreign Militaries.

Ability to manage to the below responsibilities as assigned:

Business Development / Capture Management Requirements (as individual or part of Capture team):

  • Develop and sustain profitable, long-term, consultative relationships with key Defense & Government Services clients.
  • Identify and aggressively pursue via direct engagement - high priority, high impact development opportunities in order to generate the expected incremental growth in volume and profit to meet the annual business plan targets.
  • Capture, synthesize and disseminate customer needs to broader Toll Group organization
  • Manage and perform customer interface in business development cycle including networking, contact, meeting coordination, product pitch, and close of business.
  • Contribute technical writing to RFP response documentation
  • Integrate customized solutions across Toll Group’s portfolio and offerings
  • Ensure that competitor’s strengths and weaknesses are communicated, and actions are taken to use this knowledge to Toll Group’s advantage

Business Process (Understanding of/participation in):

  • Work with respective team members and service delivery units to maintain an accurate program management plan, ensuring proper prioritization of various projects.
  • Establish effective relations with clients, TGF operations team, and the greater Toll Group organizations to ensure efficient integration and optimal results through new project implementation.
  • Coordinate with global Toll Group offices to ensure that there is a complete understanding of the client’s requirements, and all shipments are executed according to the agreement with the customer.
  • Work with other Toll Group offices to ensure sufficient operational resources are assigned to service named accounts properly and within the scope of services sold. Based on customer requirements provide input directly with senior management to build a superior client servicing team.

Project Management (demonstrated proficiency in/of)

  • Project leader who is capable of working across a geographically dispersed workforce
  • Well-developed influencing skills with an ability to interface with a broad range of stakeholders to drive strategy and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new products and capabilities and solutions to ensure the growth of the business
  • Proactively identify issues and engage the customer in joint problem solving
  • Work with various product stakeholders to develop service delivery excellence programs
  • Generate new ideas through close collaboration with business unit leaders to satisfy unmet client needs

Understand regional business and cultural diversity. Able to work across cultures, understand how each culture makes decisions and deal effectively with cultural differences.
Able to communicate effectively with senior management within TGF and our clients. Able to apply strategic frameworks as well as analytical and judgemental skills in creating effective solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Secondary:
Tertiary/T.A.F.E. Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s preferred or equivalent business leadership
Professional: 15 years plus global transportation and/or Government & Defence experience
Security: Must be reasonably capable of obtaining security authorizations for base access as required
Other: Genuine experience in developing industry sector solutions

Responsibilities:

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The position is primarily responsible for implementing, managing and developing strategic client programs within the Government & Defense Vertical. The position is the key focal point for our strategic clients in solving their daily servicing issues and providing short- and long-term solutions in order to maximize client retention as well as Toll Group profits.
You will play a critical role on our Government & Defense team strategically leading and tactically executing the client relationship. You will be responsible for establishing effective relations across complex, matrixed client stakeholders, Toll Group business units, and the greater product organizations to ensure efficient integration and optimal results for the client and Toll Group. You will also work closely with senior management to evaluate different options available to achieve the advance client program penetration success/business unit’s performance.
Toll Group’s dedicated team of Government Services specialists provides the DOD, DOS, Foreign Military Offices, Agencies, NATO members, United Nations and their Prime Contractors with a range of bespoke solutions across the Indo-Pacific region. Toll is not everything to everyone – but what Toll is great at is project managed solutions that require sequenced logistics support all with the utmost responsibility to must succeed mission accountability and discretion

Hold people accountable for putting the customer first and considering the overall capability of the Toll Group as well as optimising execution their own services. Ensure the business works together as one Group for the customer.
