Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Health Information Management, the Regional Manager oversees service delivery and operations for Registration Services across Island Health, and is responsible for short and long term planning, design, strategies, standardization, implementation and delivery of efficient and cost effective patient/client/resident registration, client scheduling standards, and core education services.
The Regional Manager oversees the provision and maintenance of a comprehensive service including data auditing, data remediation, registration standards development and best practices, registration training and related business process improvement. In addition, the Regional Manager as the lead in the development and implementation of registration business cases, strategic initiatives and related projects; and develops effective communication strategies to ensure that standards and procedures are disseminated and adopted by all users.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management and seven (7) years of recent, related experience in a large multi-site organization including a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a management or leadership role or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Eligible for registration at the Certificate level with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) preferred.

  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all VIHA staff and external agencies.
  • Effective change management and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to organize work and set priorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health care system.
  • Strong computer skills with applications such as spreadsheets.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
