Our Cancer Services at Western Health are seeking highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our team. Cancer Services provides a range of services including Day Oncology, Radiotherapy, Oncology Hospital in the Home and Inpatient Oncology care. Cancer Services at Western health operates at Sunshine and is currently offering the following exciting opportunities:

PERMANENT PART TIME

The Division of Aged, Cancer and Continuing Care is seeking a Registered Nurse with specialty experience in any of the following areas, Oncology, Haematology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, and Nephrology.
Ward 2E is looking for Registered Nurses with outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills who are interested in experiencing what the ward has to offer. The ward focuses on providing high standard of care for all acutely ill patients with complex needs within the Western Region. Our Unit has a strong focus on a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care to minimise the impact of cancer and other complex conditions on our patients and their families. High standards of nursing care are achieved through nursing staff striving for excellence in their practice therefore, professional development play an important role in maintaining these standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess the clinical, non-clinical and social needs, including the identification of ‘at risk’ patients and accurately document in the patient’s medical record and implement patient specific risk minimisation strategies
  • Recognise changes in patients’ condition and take necessary action(s) and document the variation in the patients’ medical record
  • Effectively develop discharge plans that reflect the needs of patients and their significant others and demonstrates an understanding of the role of community providers
  • Provide consistent and appropriate leadership and supervision to Graduate, Enrolled and Student nurses
  • Participate and contribute to improvement of policies, procedures and protocols and identify areas of improvement in nursing practice and on the ward
