POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are currently looking for Registered Nurses to join our team at the Ontario Poison Centre as a Specialist in Poison Information (SPI). The Ontario Poison Centre provides information and education via telephone to the general public and healthcare professionals across the provinces of Ontario and Manitoba regarding exposures to poisonous substances.
Following a comprehensive orientation, you will respond to poisoning and drug overdose calls related to both adult and paediatric exposures. You will engage in the nursing process by assessing the patient, developing and modifying an evidence-based plan of care, and evaluating its effectiveness in collaboration with our inter-professional team. In addition to your primary role as a SPI, you may have an opportunity to participate in poison prevention education, research and other leadership activities.
