A person who is able to efficiently answer calls, listen and determine the best course of action – and do it all day long. A person who can work through the voice mails and the in-basket and make sure each patient touched is helped pleasantly and properly. Sound like someone you know?Are you an Registered Nurse ready for the challenge of triage patient calls? Can you work as part of a medical support team to ensure best patient outcomes? Are you efficient and organized? We need your skills.WHAT YOU WILL DO - Work with physicians, nurses and patients to resolve questions concerning medications, health education, and medical advice within skill level and scope of practice. - Assist the patient by acquiring the appropriate appointment, as needed. - Record and maintain complete and accurate records of patient and physician communications regarding medical care according to standard medical record documentation requirements. - Retrieve messages from phone mail in a timely manner and respond to patient needs according to medical priority. - Document all incoming calls according to established department routine. - Follow through in a timely manner on patient requests. - Submit electronically/fax new prescriptions and refill prescriptions according to Physician orders. - Serve as a resource to clinic staff regarding medical information, patient assessment, and nursing management of illness. - Perform document scanning, as needed. - Acquire pre-certs/prior authorizations for patient needs. - Provide test results WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED - Broad Based knowledge of general nursing practice, knowledge of acute practice based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice. - Professional telephone etiquette. - Strong organizational and analytical skills. - Interact with others in a calm, friendly and caring manner. - Active listening skills and empathy toward others. - Multi-task in a fast-paced environment. - Proficient computer skills. - Accurate and complete history-taking. - Quick and accurate assessments. - Accurate and complete documentation. - Demonstrate self-direction in establishing priorities. - Demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills. Qualifications - Required Associate’s Degree - Preferred Bachelor’s Degree - 1 year Nursing/Patient Care in acute care or ambulatory settings Preferred - Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association - Registered Nurse (RN) - .
