JOB SUMMARY:

Organize and administers individualized age specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Supports philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, JCAHO requirements and other regulatory agencies. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.

EDUCATION:

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating.

REQUIREMENTS:

• The registered nurses will obtain and maintain their Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification through Oncological Nurses Society (ONS) to administer chemotherapy. They are required to complete a minimum of 12 Continuing Education Credits (CEU) yearly specific to oncology in accordance with the Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation guidelines for all registered nurses who deliver oncological care, and who does not have their Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) national certification.
• Current New Jersey RN licensure required.
• BLS certification required from American Heart Association.
• Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or completion of requirements for I.V. certification within 90 days of hire to unit.
• Completion of all Orientation requirements of Saint Barnabas Medical Center
• 9.5 Hr Shifts
