We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Registered Nurse who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support a participant-centred service for individuals who experience addiction from Alcohol and/or Other Drugs and Mental Health issues. This requires a commitment to work alongside participants and their families, facilitating therapeutic activities, including input and guidance for participant assessment, treatment planning, and brief interventions within a safe and culturally appropriate manner which meets the immediate mental and emotional needs in line with TSA values and mission and in line with the relevant legislation and guidelines.

You will successfully

  • Provide mental health assessments and brief interventions for participants in our withdrawal management unit and our residential rehabilitation program. This will include individual or group work.
  • Provide guidance, treatment recommendations and training to our staff in regards to participants with mental health concerns and strategies to support those participants.
  • Facilitate referrals to external services for participants in the withdrawal unit and residential rehabilitation program, as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other services, ensuring access and referral pathways are available.
  • Support and liaise with visiting medical officers and other medical officers (MO) as needed.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an environment that values continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high quality services.

You will have

  • Current driver’s license
  • Tertiary qualification in Nursing and current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience and demonstrated competence in nursing in the mental health nursing environment, preferably also in the alcohol and other drugs nursing environment but not required.
  • Demonstrated skills in triage, medical assessment, decision making and providing appropriate nursing interventions and to provide crisis support.
  • Clinical nursing and assessment skills and understanding of professional nursing requirements.
  • High level conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

This is a full-time, permanent position located in Red Hill, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the QLD Nurses Enterprise Agreement
