Description:

We are looking for a qualified Nursing Associate to join our friendly team at Whitby Urgent Treatment Centre, in supporting the team of Urgent Care Practitioners/Advanced Clinical Practitioners in the assessment and management of patients presenting to the Urgent Treatment Centre
The Urgent Treatment Centre provides services between 08:00 and 20:00 seven days per week, including public holidays.
The Urgent Treatment Centre team includes extended scope nurses, paramedic practitioners, advanced clinical practitioners and healthcare assistants. There will be a particular focus on undertaking timely triage assessments to ensure safe patient throughput.
The role will also involve administering medications and undertaking treatments, such as wound care, applying plaster-of-Paris, and so on. There is also a requirement to facilitate outpatient clinics within the Whitby Hospital Outpatient Department.
The main duties of the role will include -
To perform and record an initial triage assessment of all patients
presenting to the Urgent Treatment Centre within 15 minutes of arrival.
To undertake physiological observations as part of a triage assessment and for ongoing monitoring.
To administer medications at the point of triage under a Patient Group Direction or on the instructions of a prescriber.
To perform other investigations, such as urinalysis and the recording of ECGs.
To undertake treatments, such as wound care, application of
orthopaedic splints and Plaster-of-Paris etc.
To liaise with the Urgent Care Practitioners/Advanced Clinical
Practitioners to ensure the safe management of patients and smooth-running of the department.
To facilitate in the management of outpatient clinics as required
and administer medication under Patient Group Direction or on the
instructions of a prescriber.
