POSITION INFORMATION
The Patient Flow Team is a new initiative created to enhance The Ottawa Hospital’s overall Health Human Resource needs. Reporting to the brand new Operations Command Centre, the Patient Flow Team will support nursing staff resource requirements to enable fluctuations in patient demands, replacement staffing, and bed capacity expansions. The Patient Flow Team is a dynamic and agile team dedicated to meeting the needs of multiple nursing units across the Hospital. As part of the Patient Flow Team, Registered Practical Nurses will receive orientation and training to support a variety of units including, Acute Medicine, Surgery, Post-Acute and various specialty areas like the Emergency Department and Mental Health. You will be supported every step of the way! A specific work location is not definable for these positions, as they will be asked to work througout the Hospital. Assigments/locations will be determined by the hospital based on needs.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum three (3) months of recent related RPN experience (within the last two (2) years);
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS;
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of safe medication administration and ability to practice this in a clinical setting;
- Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the General Medicine/Surgical/Rehabilitation patient and an ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
- Demonstrates the ability to participate as an active member of the health care team
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and a written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines;
- Identifies a commitment to personal continuing education;
- Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self evaluation;
- Demonstrates a desire and ability to participate in patient teaching;
- Demonstrates an understanding of the application and relevance of the Quality Assurance Program and participates in unit activities;
- Demonstrates an understanding of aseptic technique and an ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
- Able to perform all tasks related to this position;
- Eligible to work in Canada.
