The Mental Health and Wellbeing Services team are committed to supporting staff wellbeing in a dynamic, busy environment and support professional development through partnerships with external training providers.

PERMANENT FULL TIME / PART TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE

The Western Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (WIPU) are looking for RPNs who are passionate about women’s health. The new WIPU is a dedicated women’s-only adult acute inpatient unit based at Footscray, offering women who are experiencing severe mental ill health a trauma-informed and recovery-focused experience to care.
Our RPNs is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, assisting the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM RPN3) in the course of their duties to ensure the delivery of tailored interventions that meet the needs of women. The RPN fulfils the roles and responsibilities of a division 1 registered nurse whilst demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in mental health.
There is further opportunity for growth, and occasions where our RPNs are required to uphold the responsibilities/authority of the ANUM.

Responsibilities:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • A minimum of 12 months mental health experience in a mental health clinical setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with mental health consumers, including appropriate supports, therapeutic engagement, assessment and evidence-based interventions
  • Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work a 7 day a week rotating roster (AM, PM & Nights)
  • Possess excellent clinical skills
  • Completed a post graduate qualification in mental health nursing or be willing to work towards
