The MHPS department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Douglas College is hiring three regular probationary faculty members for the Health Care Assistant Program to begin Fall 2024. The primary place of work will be Coquitlam Campus.
Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The Faculty of Health Sciences invites applicants to teach in the Health Care Assistant Program and is currently hiring regular probationary faculty members to begin August 16, 2024. Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in college courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner‐centered instruction
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- Current unrestricted full registration as a Registered nurse or Registered psychiatric nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives with undergraduate degree in Nursing or health related field (e.g., no conditions on license or provincial registration);
- Master’s degree preferred;
- Demonstrate ability to teach adult learners (e.g., completion of Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references);
- Recent teaching experience in clinical, classroom and/or laboratory settings in a Health Care Assistant or nursing related program or equivalent;
- Three or more years (1 year =1400 hours) of full-time Canadian nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health Care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings. Nursing work experience to include:
- Experience in working with older adults with complex health needs; and/or
- Experience in home support and multi-level/ complex care;
- Evidence of completion of course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility;
- Evidence of completion of the Health Care Assistant Practice in BC course;
- Curriculum development/ maintenance experience/ expertise;
- Effective interpersonal skills, initiative, and creativity;
- Self-directedness, strong work ethic and excellent writing ability;
- Ability to collaborate and contribute effectively to team activities;
