REGULATORY AND ACCOUNTING ANALYST

ERTH Power Corporation is a regional Local Distribution Company launched in July 2000 in the heart of Southwestern Ontario, representing the amalgamation of ten Public Utilities Commissions within the municipalities of Port Stanley, Aylmer, Belmont, Ingersoll, Thamesford, Otterville, Norwich, Burgessville, Beachville, Embro and Tavistock. In 2011, Clinton, Mitchell and Dublin, Ontario and most recently in 2019, Goderich, Ontario was added to our service territory. Working out of our offices in Ingersoll, Ontario, ERTH is looking for a dynamic individual with proven experience to join our team as a Regulatory and Accounting Analyst. This full-time contract position, initially spanning 16 months, offers the potential for extension.
The Regulatory and Accounting Analyst will be responsible for assisting with the development of electricity distribution rate applications, reporting, record keeping requirements (RRR) filing and other submissions to the Ontario Energy Board (OED) and Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for approval of the Manager of Regulatory Affairs. This position additionally supports the Accounting Financial Analyst with month and quarterly financial reporting as required.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WHO MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA WILL BE CONSIDERED:

  • Post-secondary education in an analytical field which may include Accounting, Finance, Math, Business and other related streams
  • In depth knowledge of regulatory framework, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge or regulatory framework and IFRS accounting standards preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to prioritize and multi task in an environment with tight, inflexible deadlines, while maintaining accuracy of information
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and collates data relevant to the preparation and submission of the OEC applications and filings support of overall strategy and at the direction of the Manager and legal counsel
  • Prepare and submit regulatory IESO filings, reports, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide detailed analysis and reports to the Manager of Regulatory Affairs on upcoming regulatory changes
  • Maintain an understanding of regulatory codes and guidance to ensure compliance
  • Oversee, prepare, analyze and maintain all regulatory accounting balances and reconciliations as required by the OEB
  • Provide support to Finance department through month-end processes including posting of journal entries and financial reconciliations
  • Analyze and interpret regulatory guidelines, ensuring the organization’s adherence to all applicable rules and standards.
