Description:

The role In this role, you will be responsible for adhering to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality, safe services and workplaces. You will fulfill the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health’s code of conduct and core values. Key duties include reviewing and processing applications for licences, approvals, and other instruments for the delegate of the Chief Executive, performing technical assessments of applications, and exercising legislative delegations under public health legislation. Additionally, you will provide advice to clients and stakeholders regarding licensing and approvals, negotiate with health practitioners and stakeholders to resolve complex issues, and manage licensing revenue, including financial data maintenance and refunds.
You will also prepare briefing documents, work instructions, fact sheets, guidance documents, submissions, correspondence, and reports, supporting statewide policy and service planning projects relevant to medicines. Administrative duties across the Medicines Approvals and Regulation Unit (MARU) will be undertaken as required by management, including writing correspondence, monitoring outstanding approval and licensing requests, and initiating remedial actions when needed. You will provide advice and guidance to team members, contribute feedback on regulatory processes to Senior Regulatory Officers and the Manager, MARU, and support the overall effective functioning of the unit.
The successful personTo succeed in this role, you should possess knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of MARU’s licensing and approval functions, systems, and practices, with a strong emphasis on maintaining confidentiality. Additionally, you should have an understanding or the ability to quickly learn relevant legislation and the application of policies and procedures necessary for the progress of substance authority approvals.
Furthermore, you will need highly developed interpersonal, consultation, and communication skills, enabling you to effectively interact with senior management, team members, and external stakeholders. A flexible approach to work and a willingness to participate in initiatives to address critical issues as required by management are also essential for this role.
