1 ‑ Full Time ‑ Rehabilitation Specialist
Regional Stroke Strategy Centre
Regional Stroke Rehabilitation and Community lead for Northwestern Ontario. This position leads and facilitates
quality improvement, the promotion, facilitation and implementation of best practices, and leads or participates in
local, regional and provincial committees and research.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:
Minimum four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in an allied health‑related field (example: Occupational Therapy,
Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Dietician, Social Work, Kinesiology), from an accredited university
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a health care environment in an allied health care role
Skills/Abilities:
*Knowledge of the Northwest’s population health status and health care continuum of care including the region’s
unique Indigenous landscape.
*Understanding of current health system governance and structures (example OH: CorHealth mandate).
*Theoretical application skills and ability to effectively blend academic theories, including project management
systems theory, change management, capacity development, and community mobilization.
*Knowledge in the application of rehabilitation‑related datasets, outcome measures and evaluation.
*Demonstrated project management skills related to tracking costs, dissemination of health‑related research and
evaluation methodologies, and ability to transfer and translate to policies, processes and knowledge with and for
stakeholders.
*Sound knowledge of Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations (CSBPR) and Quality‑Based Procedures for
Stroke Care with a focus on rehabilitation practices and stroke transitions of care.
*Experience in, and sensitivity to, complexities of rehabilitation in various settings (hospital, community, long‑term
care, home care locally and in rural and remote communities) including funding, differing mandates/cultures of
organizations and professions, system issues and challenges.
*Demonstrated leadership, networking and conflict resolution skills.
*Demonstrated excellent presentation skills.
*Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue
improvement.
*Demonstrated excellent proficiency in software, e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and EMRs.
*Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal (e.g. presentations, report
generation and proposal writing).
*Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
Assets:
*Master’s Degree from an accredited university is considered an asset
*Recent clinical experience working in a hospital and/or long‑term care and/or within the community with a focus on
neuroscience and/or stroke
*Prior authorship on research studies
*Training, experience and utilization of methodologies for process improvement
*This position may require regional travel occasionally (under 5 times per year)
*This position may require provincial travel 1 time per year
Salary Range: $45.622 to 53.672
