This rarely advertised role involves working with patients on the specialist wards at QVH, where you will be alongside a range of other healthcare professionals providing rehabilitation. You will carry out care plans in order to help patients adapt to changes as a result of their illness or injury and be part of them achieving their maximum physical, emotional and social capabilities.
You will also develop skills in the measuring, pattern making and fabrication of pressure garments alongside an experienced team of technicians.(Pressure garments are a supportive, form fitting piece of clothing which applies constant pressure to assist with scarring or swelling)

To provide a pressure garment service to the therapy department at QVH for both inpatients and outpatients as well as to private service providers who purchase the service. This involves the construction of individually designed and fabricated compression garments, soft splints and adaptive devices. Therefore, previous experience and skills on a sewing machine is required.
To support the occupational therapists and physiotherapists in their specific treatment programmes for patients to achieve rehabilitation goals. As a rehabilitation assistant you will deliver treatment sessions for patients who have undergone burns, plastics or head and neck surgery.
