Salary: $112,917 - $141,084 (Plus 11.5% Super)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

An Australian MBBS medical degree or equivalent.

  • To be eligible for this position you must be PGY 4 + by February 2025, prior to the commencement of the role.

Hold general medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia (registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a medical practitioner).

Where required be registered under the Working for Vulnerable People Act.

  • Demonstrate commitment to training and continuing professional development including participation in relevant teaching programs, activities, and feedback opportunities,

It is expected that successful applicants will apply to enrol in Advanced Training in General Rehabilitation Medicine for the 2025 calendar year.
A Valid Driver’s Licence (will need to travel to other hospitals for consultation / liaison service).

At the time of commencement of employment / training, must have completed two full years (or full-time equivalent) of postgraduate supervised training in general medical and surgical areas within the last five years.

  • The successful applicant will need to be available for occasional weekend and after-hours work, and participate in an on-call roster.

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.
You will need to understand how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
You will need to fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and other related frameworks.

APPLICATIONS ARE SOUGHT FOR THE POSITION OF ADVANCED TRAINING IN REHABILITATION MEDICINE. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST BE PGY 4 + BY FEBRUARY 2025, PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE ROLE.

The University of Canberra Hospital: Specialist Centre for Rehabilitation, Recovery and Research (UCH) is Canberra’s first, purpose-built rehabilitation hospital.
UCH is the largest rehabilitation centre in the ACT and surrounds, with capacity for 140 inpatient beds, 75 day places and additional outpatient services. The hospital brings together rehabilitation services and specialist staff from many locations across Canberra into one purpose-built location - making it easier for people to access the services they need. UCH provides subacute services including Rehabilitation (inpatient, outpatient, day programmes), Geriatric Evaluation and Management and Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation subacute services.

DUTIES:

Under limited direction of the Clinical Director you will:
1. Provide daily management of patients admitted under their supervising unit with the assistance of a junior medical officer and supported by senior specialist staff.
2. Participate in the provision of ambulatory medical care to patients visiting the outpatient service of the hospital. It is expected that you maintain a logbook of these encounters as part of your clinical training.
3. Participate in the provision of rehabilitation consultation / reviews through the Canberra Hospital Acute – Subacute Early Referral Service (CHASERS) at Canberra Health Service hospital sites.
4. Participate in the Rehabilitation Medicine Physician Advanced Training programme (RACP), including monthly Bi-National Training seminars, participation in journal clubs, quality assurance meetings and committees, case presentations, and ward-based teaching.
5. Supervise junior medical staff and ANU medical students within ward-based teams to ensure appropriate level of clerkship and high quality care (admissions, discharges, ward rounds, family meetings).
6. Participate in a roster that will involve occasional weekend, evening and on-call duties to support 24/7 provision of care in a subacute facility.
7. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
