As a Release Manager, you will own the Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for the entire Five9 product portfolio. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, quality engineering, product management, customer support and operations to ensure releases are delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest level of quality. Where necessary you’ll help delivery teams manage and deploy releases into production. You will have familiarity with a broad spectrum of software development and release management best practices in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years related work experience or master’s degree with 3+ years related work experience.
- Proven success large release teams.
- A strong background in managing globally distributed SaaS software releases across multiple time-zones and regions at scale.
- Familiarity with software configuration management systems and/or source code control systems preferred.
- Metrics driven – proficient in measuring success, value and gaps.
- Ability to help teams adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to independently identify solutions to ambiguous problems beyond the scope of immediate team and see them through to closure.
- Ability to motivate and influence team members for end-to-end execution.
- Self-motivated, energetic, excellent interpersonal, organizational, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present information, status, and issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong problem-solving, decision making and analytical skills.
- High degree of flexibility, independence, initiative, and detail orientation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the release management plan, including scheduling, coordination, and stakeholder communication.
- Work closely with delivery teams to ensure that changes are properly integrated and tested.
- Define and implement release processes and tools that help automate and streamline release management activities and strive for continuous improvements by leveraging industry best practices and lessons learned.
- Monitor and report on the progress of each release, identifying and addressing issues or risks that may impact the release schedule or quality.
- Track trends at regular intervals using release metrics and report on quality and velocity parameters.
- Collaborate with software delivery teams to define release scope and priorities.
- Ensure that all releases are properly documented, including release notes, and other relevant documentation.
- Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business Go/No-Go reviews.
- Conduct release retrospectives and help with implementing recommendations across the board to improve release quality and predictability and quality.
- Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks.
