Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Reliability Engineer.
The Reliability Engineer will maintain and develop standards for equipment selection, repairs, and documentation, while supporting and modifying predictive and preventative maintenance programs for improved equipment reliability. Lead process improvement and equipment reliability initiatives, as well as investigate significant or frequent equipment failures through RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis).
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / industrial engineering
    o P.Eng designation preferred.

o Lean six sigma training/certification considered an asset.

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of industrial engineering / reliability engineering experience

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the assessment and management of the reliability of equipment and systems that could affect the operational capabilities of manufacturing / production.
  • For all new and existing assets, utilize manufacture design and standards to develop the required preventative maintenance processes and set up critical and minimum spares.
  • Review, Investigate and develop revised maintenance plans based on RCFA.
  • Manage (weekly update, annual update, format update) maintenance (KPI) board.
  • Support preventative maintenance planning for budget / schedule / scope.
  • Analyze and evaluate the preventative program to determine opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Analyze equipment and facilities based on E1 reports to assist in future planning, budgeting, and replacement.
  • Continually monitor, update, and action stat 68 work orders and feedback - delegate tasks to planners and supervisors as required.
  • Analyze and evaluate and recommend modifications to the manufacturing processes as it relates to the intended use and operation of equipment and system.
  • Provide support for planners when additional equipment or PM information is required.
  • Provide feedback on new equipment selections and identify maintainability concerns. Works with project lead/coordinator in this case to determine suitable alternative.
  • Develop and maintain a Risk Registrar that supports production / business continuity relative to major equipment and facilities management.
