Reliability Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the reliability of all plant equipment. Must have the ability to solve difficult engineering problems by understanding the equipment design and the science of the processes. Must be able to improve the reliability of the plant and equipment by understanding and utilizing the applications of reliability engineering processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Five (5+) plus years of progressive experience in engineering
  • Five (5+) plus years’ experience in one of the following: Equipment/machinery design and/or fabrication and Equipment/machinery maintenance
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Strong functioning knowledge of electrical and electronic systems
    Proficient in Computer-Aided Design software (Inventor, Creo, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc)

Responsibilities:

  • Works with engineering and maintenance to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. The reliability engineer is responsible for adhering to the life cycle asset management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets.
  • Develops and maintains PM program on all equipment.
  • Develops and maintains Predictive Maintenance (PdM) program. Determines applicable PdM technologies, routines, and routes.
  • Develops and maintains an equipment lubrication sampling program.
  • Participates in the development of design and installation specifications, along with commissioning plans, for new equipment.
  • Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
  • Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
  • Participates in the commissioning of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors, and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes:
  • Value-added preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
  • Provides input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations.
  • Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for defining reliability problems, and makes recommendations.
  • Works with Production to perform analyses of assets.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility, the reliability engineer applies:
  • Statistical process control
  • Reliability modeling and prediction
  • Fault tree analysis
  • Weibull analysis
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Asset criticality and utilization
  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and standards. Maintains data used in creating and updating KPI reports.
  • This position reports to the Reliability Manager.
