We are looking for Relief D river / Storekeeper, kitchen porter to join our Catering Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
You will deliver goods to our various catering areas in Preston and Chorley using our tail lift vehicle !
You will also be part of the team receiving checking and storing catering deliveries.
this role will include relief duties in catering store or the main kitchen supporting the kitchen Portering team when required.
The role is varied and does involve physical work including moving and handling working in chilled/cold storage area and walk in freezer rooms but protective uniform will be provided. Administrative work such as receiving goods temperature recording stock taking. additionally this person will support the kitchen Portering team when required duties include pan washing, general cleaning of various rooms throughout the kitchen, maintaining good hygiene practice throughout the department.
The ideal person will be a team player a good communicator and one who is able to work on their own initiative and under supervision . Previous experience as a storekeeper driver/kitchen porter is desirable but not essential as training will be given. You must have a valid driving license and ability to follow food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
These hours will be on a variable rota and will include occasional weekend working if required by the service, hours of duty between 6am - 8pm.

Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure an accurate exchange of information about catering tasks and service needs.
Communicate with a range of customers in person and over the telephone to understand individual needs and provide information relating to the catering service
Undertake duties relating to food ordering, distribution and storage, including: -
Delivering and collection of meal trolleys to wards and departments, using trust vehicles as required.
Delivering and collection of meal trolleys to wards and departments, by foot as and when required to support the team.
Review ‘daily’ ordering of perishable and non-perishable goods as requested, providing the information in a timely manner to the catering office for processing.
Receiving all Catering deliveries of food and other goods.
Store food items appropriately and rotate stock accordingly.
Participate in stock take processes as requested by supervisor or manager.
Delivery to any designated place as per daily schedule of all Award Catering requisitions.
Delivering between and Chorley and Preston sites on a daily basis.
Undertake cleaning either manually or using mechanical equipment in catering areas.
Report any defective equipment or health and safety hazards to immediate supervisor.
Delivering goods using trust transport
To undertake collections and deliveries of catering goods and patient/staff meals between Trust sites, delivery of food trolleys to ward areas on any site.
Manage vehicle in line with Trusts’ Transport Handbook.
Proactively support the continued development of the catering service.
Demonstrate diligence with regard to security of Trust property.
Maintain and develop own competence
