Description:
We are a leading engineering firm based in the heart of North Sydney, dedicated to excellence in the field of structural engineering, with a particular focus on remedial engineering solutions. Our team is composed of highly skilled professionals committed to delivering innovative solutions to our clients. We work across a diverse range of projects, due to our continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking a talented Remedial Engineer to join our dynamic team.
This role is also responsible for attending site inspections, preparing meeting minutes, contract administration/superintendent, remedial engineering reports and dilapidation surveys. As the engineer progresses with their skill acquisition, they are able to correctly undertake more advanced inspections and diagnosis, as well as begin preparing remedial engineering reports and scope of works under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree (Honours) / Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent level qualifications, with graduate membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia (GradIEAust)
- Knowledge of structural and building materials, building elements and construction methodology, waterproofing design, weatherproofing design
- Understanding of contract law and the duties of a superintendent in contract administration
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to scope the work, gather data, analyse and formulate an opinion and develop a solution or design (to think and deliver)
- Exercises sound judgement in engineering activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to engage and collaborate with external agencies (clients, architects, builders)
- Ability to communicate and engage with other internal design team members.
- Ability to work in a small team environment.
- Keep abreast of new knowledge through continuing professional development activities.
- Proven ability to conduct site inspections, issue site instructions promptly and write reports.
- Ability to accurately check drafting documentation.
- Ability to meet deadlines and keep a daily time sheet.

Responsibilities:
- To listen, collaborate and communicate effectively with internal staff and external agencies.
- Undertake calculations, analysis and design to meet project requirements and in accordance with applicable standards and design directives.
- Prepare hand sketches of waterproofing design and details.
- Prepare remedial engineering reports, scope of works, and dilapidation reports as required.
- Attend project meetings and prepare minutes as required.
- Assess contractor progress claims and administer the building works contract.
- Check drafting work to ensure drawings detail the design requirements.
- Attend site inspections and facilitate contractor site enquiries.
- Seek knowledge and understanding to continuously improve own practices and maintain professional accreditations.
- Undertake other duties as required by the business and requested by your manager.
