Description:
Position Details: Full-time, 2 Year Fixed Term
Salary Range: $53,500 - $66,900. Salary is based on a 35-hour work week and will be commensurate with individual education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Remote/Hybrid within Canada – preference to be located in Saskatoon or Regina, SK.

REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, or a related environmental science or relevant diploma from accredited Technical Institute.
- Minimum 1-3 years’ work experience using GIS/Image Analysis software.
- Intermediate proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and image processing software (e.g., PCI, ERDAS, SNAP, etc.).
- Experience with object-based image analysis (OBIA) methods, proficiency with PCI Catalyst Object Analyst is a highly desirable asset.
- Experience with programming Python Libraries (e.g., R, RSGISLib, etc) and Jupyter notebook is a highly desirable asset.
- Experience with classification of wetlands and/or land cover from multisource inputs (e.g., Planet Scope, Sentinel-2, DEM, etc.) is a highly desirable asset.
- Experience working with various optical satellite imagery (e.g., Sentinel-2, Planet Scope, etc.).
- Experience performing image interpretation from high-resolution imagery from either airborne or satellite platforms.
- Understanding of remote sensing concepts, products, and processing steps of optical, Planet Scope, LiDAR, etc.
- Proven knowledge of geographic and cartographic principles (e.g., projections and datums).
- Ability to work independently, and also within a team.
- Efficient learner, with strong ability to follow workflow instructions.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet rigid deadlines.
- Ability to travel to remote communities throughout Prairie Canada.
- A valid Canadian driver’s license is required.
- Prior experience with wetland ecosystems is an asset.
Responsibilities:
The Remote Sensing Analyst will be responsible for participating in the classification of wetlands and land cover across Prairie Canada in conjunction with a team of other Remote Sensing Analysts to support DUC’s vision and strategies. As a member of the Prairie GIS team, you will provide remote sensing and data management support to implement mapping project components.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Support the technical production of prairie wetland mapping projects in accordance with internal protocols and standards.
- Conduct image and LiDAR processing tasks using existing data pipelines in support of mapping production.
- Provide data management and quality assurance functions for project validation data.
- Provide quality assurance processing for model predictions and compiling final deliverables.
- Support the compilation of wetland inventory project metadata and other documentation.
- Identify, gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data/imagery from internal or external sources (e.g., Planet Scope, Google Earth Engine, etc.).
- Write scripts (e.g. Python, R, JavaScript) as required.
