ABOUT THE ROLE
Muon Space is building an expert team that is designing and generating value-added products from Earth observations from Muon’s constellation of low Earth orbit satellites and other geospatial datasets. We are seeking a Remote Sensing Data Scientist who will sit on the Muon Science Team and will help to develop the algorithms and final stages of processing for the data coming from our spacecraft’s instruments. This role will interact with both instrument engineering and ground data systems teams to ensure a deep understanding of the measurements being made as well as an ability to work with the infrastructure data flows through, aiming for generating the highest possible science data quality with the lowest attainable latencies in order to meet Muon’s goals in monitoring and addressing climate change. This role will involve working with data from multiple instrument types, and therefore requires the flexibility to work on a variety of topics.
Location: This position can be located in Los Angeles, Mountain View, CA or Remote.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the algorithmic and software development of data processing pipelines
- Build beyond state-of-the-art data products from remote sensing observations
- Work with scientists and data team to continually refine data products
- Willingness to learn new topics as needed (measurements techniques, retrieval concepts, data platforms/tools, etc.)
