Description:

REMOTE SENSING SCIENTIST [FTC]

Climate X is a purpose-driven climate adaptation data company set to revolutionise how the world manages assets, property, and infrastructure.
We apply cutting-edge, peer-reviewed science to help prevent the worst impacts of climate change. We combine climate projections, remote sensing observations, and modelling to project the frequency and severity of physical climate risks such as floods, subsidence, storms, etc.
We are engaged in a grant which will begin on 10th July and continue for 7-8 months.
The acceleration of biodiversity loss, combined with the threats it poses to the climate, the spread of disease and the economy means there is a global need for innovative solutions to slow biodiversity loss, and mitigate the negative impacts of losses already incurred.

The use of satellite-derived data presents a unique opportunity to address the biodiversity problem in one of the UK’s largest economic contributors, the financial services sector. We (Climate X) seek to develop a Biodiversity Impact Scenario Monitor (BISM), using:

  • satellite data,
  • complementary terrestrial data sources, and
  • enabling technologies

in a physics-first approach, to provide granular detail of business asset impacts on specific biomes
(distinct geographical regions with specific biodiversity and climate), whilst identifying, understanding and predicting the impacts and dependencies of business on nature, and nature on business.
We advocate diversity with our founders, team, and investors from various backgrounds.
We’re not building just a team but a place of innovation where problem solving, and fun coexist to address the most significant challenge our society is facing now.
