JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW:
The Business Office in the College of Engineering is seeking an intermediate level Research Administrator to join a team that provides administrative and financial management in the post-award phase of sponsored research projects. There is a significant emphasis on budgeting and accounting activity in this position. This position is a critical resource to faculty and assures sound stewardship of sponsored research dollars. The successful candidate will have a strong customer service focus and be a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team. Depending on experience, this role will have the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field, with at least two years of professional-level experience.
- Four years equivalent relevant experience substituted for the degree requirement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in higher education or governmental accounting
- Experience and knowledge working with sponsored research projects
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range of $53,456 to $56,201 annually, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
60% of the time:
- Oversee grant compliance and processes as it relates to grant accounting; monitor compliance with grant contracts and government guidelines.
- Monitor grants and funds monthly. Review appropriateness of transactions and submit payroll and other corrections in a timely manner as needed.
- Prepare budget versus actual reports with projections for P.I.s. Identify and prevent projected overspending. Work with P.I.s for the resolution of projects in deficit.
- Submit advance and budget adjustment requests to the Office of Sponsored Programs as appropriate.
- Manage cost share to ensure costs are appropriately expended.
- Review effort reports for accuracy.
- Provide documentation and information in support of audits.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of all grant accounts and records.
35% of the time:
- Review and keep abreast of all new and existing Federal and State regulations to ensure compliance.
- Participate in and contribute to the management and implementation of process improvements to ensure efficiency.
- Serve as a mentor with other staff, and provide cross-training as needed.
5% Perform other duties as assigned
