JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Research Analyst -Associate- Fixed Income to join our fixed income team. The analyst will be supervised and mentored by the Director of Municipal Credit Research while conducting municipal credit research and analysis in support of institutional client portfolios.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy or related field, or equivalent experience
  • One to three years of experience in investment and securities industry

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of fixed-income markets and securities, financial analysis techniques and credit rating factors
  • Basic understanding of institutional investment management
  • Ability to analyze economic and market conditions
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting, finance, and investment principles
  • Rigorous attention to detail and demonstrated ability to synthesize a variety of factors and prioritize effectively
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and desire to learn
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and Word, Bloomberg a plus

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Develop municipal sector credit expertise
  • Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative fundamental analysis to assess credit and market risks for assigned investment grade issuers and sectors
  • Municipal budget and tax analysis, financial statement modeling and synthesis of municipal sector developments and market news flow
  • Provide, maintain, document, and communicate proprietary credit assessments to inform portfolio management decisions and to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Monitor assigned issuers and sectors, as well as the broader municipal market, for changes in risk factors
  • Actively engage with municipal credit team and portfolio managers, and participate in portfolio- and credit meetings
  • Perform related ad hoc projects and requests
