POSITION SUMMARY

Bring your advanced data analytics, qualitative and quantitative research skills to Centennial College’s Data, Analytics and Research Office. You will play an integral role in various institutional research projects across the institution. In this role, you will work independently to perform data analysis and use applied research methodologies to support stakeholders with institutional planning, operational enhancements, ad-hoc evaluations and other key decision-making processes.
You will collaborate on a diverse team of staff, students, faculty and stakeholders to better understand the needs across the college, using market research and data collection to study trends and identify challenges and areas of opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Post-graduate Master’s degree or equivalent in disciplines such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Social Sciences, or Business Administration and/or a Post-Graduate certificate in Research Analysis combined with formalized work and study
  • Five (5) years proven technical expertise in research methods, questionnaire development and inferential statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate and manage large datasets and databases using Microsoft Access, Excel or Oracle
  • Experience in an educational institution or non-profit organization an asset
  • Advanced skill with statistical software applications such as Python, R, SPSS, SAS and/or STATA; quantitative and qualitative survey design training
  • Superior communication (oral, written and presentation) and relationship management skills
  • Proficient with word processing software including: Microsoft Word, networked computer systems (e.g., Banner/AIS, Windows, Microsoft Office, Crystal, Oracle, Cognos, Internet, College Websites)
  • Strong understanding and commitment to working within a highly diverse and inclusive work environment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure managing and capable of leading multiple projects in a highly diverse, agile and deadline-oriented environment

Responsibilities:

  • Work on covering a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods including empathy interviews, concept tests, surveys and other research techniques.
  • Work cross-functionally with various other departments to prioritize, plan, and deliver on research initiatives.
  • Design and execute research projects, including development of appropriate research designs, strategies for data collection, analysis and interpretation
  • Coordinate with Senior Analyst(s) and Data Scientist(s) in the field of Business Intelligence, Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, statistical and simulation modelling, design, development and enhancement as it is applied to complex use cases in higher education
  • Implement a variety of mathematical or algorithmic models and other analytical products, including the vetting of underlying data to ensure integrity
  • Develop analytical solutions and make recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Advise and guide assigned business/groups on implementation of analytical solutions
  • Develop agreed analytical solution by applying suitable business intelligence techniques, statistical & machine learning techniques (e.g., A/B testing, prototype solutions, mathematical models, algorithms, machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence) to test, verify, refine hypotheses
  • Work with stakeholders to identify the business requirements, understand distinct problems and expected outcomes, and models and frames business scenarios which impact critical business processes and/or decisions
  • Performs comprehensive analysis and projections for forecasting and trend review
  • Summarize statistical findings and draws conclusions, presents actionable business recommendations
  • Drive innovation through the development of Data & AI products that can be leveraged across the organization and establish best practices in in alignment with Data & AI governance frameworks of Centennial
  • Develop and manage raw data from paper-based and online surveys/questionnaires to ensures data accuracy and integrity
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
