OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
This term-limited position plays an active role in conducting specialized research activities, in planning and operations, and in providing expertise for the newly formed Heat Policy Innovation Hub. This position will report to Area Director Ashley Ward.
SKILLS
- Knowledge and expertise in the policy, health, economic, and other relevant aspects of excessive and extreme heat, and/or climate-related health outcomes
- Ability to manage, analyze, synthesize, and communicate environmental data and information
- Experience working with protected health data, proprietary data, and other secure datasets that require data use agreements and/or IRB approval
- Experience with programming languages, such as R or Python preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and accurately with high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to summarize research and collect investigations or literature reviews
- Willingness and ability to travel are needed
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Work requires a bachelor’s degree in public health, environmental science, policy, or a field directly related to the position.
Preferred Experience:
Work requires two years of experience in research, policy/data analysis, or related positions. A master’s or higher degree in a relevant field may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g. a two-year master’s degree in lieu of two years of experience.
EDUCATION
Work requires a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the specific position.
EXPERIENCE
Work requires two years of experience in research/data analysis or OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE related position.
