Summary:
Relying heavily on Workday, the Research Analyst position provides information, reporting, data management, and decision support to the Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment, to the University community, and to external constituents and stakeholders.
Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, the analyst will extract, compile, analyze and report institutional data on students, courses, personnel, finance and other aspects of the university as requested.
  • Report Development: Design, develop, and maintain a variety reports, dashboards, and reporting tools, including but not limited to standard, custom, composite, and matrix reports, while adhering to business requirements and best practices.
  • Responsibilities include querying internal databases; manipulating and evaluating data; filling ad-hoc data requests, preparing interpretive analyses and presenting findings in narrative and graphic forms; and effectively interacting with the university community and external constituencies.
  • The research analyst will perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally for multiple nights at a time to represent the university professionally and for employee development.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team including collaboration with internal customers and fellow analysts.
  • Ability to learn various data sources and make appropriate choices about their use.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adhere to federal, state, and university policies regarding access to, use of, and release of confidential information is essential.
  • Strong information gathering skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking ability.
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and MS Access.
  • Ability to interact professionally and independently with administrators.
  • Sensitivity to institutional environments and a thorough understanding of contemporary academic issues.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with Workday reporting (HCM, Finance or Student)
