NAV CANADA is hiring a Research and Innovation Co-op Student to join our Chief Technology Office! As a Co-op Student, you will improve your skills and gain valuable on-the-job work experience while being actively involved in research initiatives. Job Description
Are you passionate about analyzing concepts and progressing new and innovative ideas and solutions? Do you have a knack for discovering and synthesizing knowledge to forge new ways forward? Do you want to help NAV CANADA adopt new and innovative technologies in a responsible way? Make a difference by joining our team and becoming a part of new and exciting initiatives at NAV CANADA! As the Research and Innovation Co-op student, you will be working with technology specialists, business specialists and data analysts to contribute to various initiatives that are within the scope of NAV CANADA’s Research and Development Centre. This could include research into the application of new technologies, development of technology-related frameworks and processes, and enhancing the practice of research at NAV CANADA.

This role involves:

  • Researching, analyzing and evaluating the potential impacts and benefits of innovative technologies and processes.
  • Contribute to the creation of concepts, frameworks and policy recommendations that help support safe, ethical, and efficient integration of emerging technologies within the organization.
  • Engage with stakeholders to collect feedback and gain insights that help guide the direction of research and development.
  • Documenting findings and developing guidance material.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Great organizational skills, be details-oriented, and dependable.
  • Motivation to learn and gain valuable experience.
  • Must be a team player.

Programs and Level:

  • Graduate student working towards a degree in Innovation, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analyst, Administration, Digital transformation, or similar technical discipline.

Work Environment:

  • The work is performed during weekdays in a hybrid office environment in Ottawa.
  • The work term is 8 months: from Sep 2024 to May 2025.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to gather and document information from multiple sources, conduct analyses, and generate actionable insights.
  • Ability to identify complex problems, research and develop options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, visually, and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience

  • Previous academic or work experience in data analytics, artificial intelligence, business analysis or digital transformation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Office suite or similar
  • Experience working within a team environment.

Work Location:

  • A minimum of 3 days per week at the office is required.
  • This position is located at 280 Hunt Club Rd, Ottawa, ON.
