Description:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in genetics, or closely related field, required; Doctorate degree preferred;
- At least seven years of experience working in a multi-disciplinary research environment;
- Demonstrated multi-disciplinary understanding of genomics, and the application of genomic tools in agriculture innovation and sustainability.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead multiple projects/research teams simultaneously.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
COMPETENCIES
- Extensive and successful experience in supervising a team of diverse personnel and providing guidance on proposal preparation, project design, data collection and analysis, publication and dissemination of results.
- Demonstrated ability to work with research collaborators, community key parties, and governmental officials.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Capacity to build and nurture relationships with people of diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
- Highly developed program management skills including coordinating multiple research and extension projects and financial oversight.
- Extensive and successful experience in managing a complex, public, unionized work environment.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written English language skills. Demonstrated technical oral and written reporting skills.
- Ability to represent the Centre and research/outreach projects at all times in a positive, accurate, and professional manner.
- Ability to use software appropriate to research and reporting tasks (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other genetic data analysis and statistical analysis software).
- Ability to travel between campuses and ability to travel within the province and Canada to meet with key parties or potential collaborators as necessary.
