Position Summary:

We are looking for an individual to provide scientific and administrative research assistance in our programs of epidemiological research at St Mary’s Research Centre. The research assistant in this position will assist several researchers and will have their time distributed across several projects related to cancer epidemiology. Duties will include assistance at all stages of research, including study initiation, administrative tasks, database management, statistical analysis, and report writing. This position is responsible for supporting the following activities, but not limited to:

  • Conducting assigned literature searches and reviews
  • Maintaining bibliographic databases
  • Assisting with grant application preparation
  • Assisting with research ethics approval and renewal of studies
  • Preparing scientific articles for submission
  • Perform statistical analyses under the direction of research staff.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or other related field
  • Experience with epidemiological research
  • Experience with software for word processing, presentations, and spreadsheets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Preferably bilingual (English and French)
  • Knowledge of standard statistical software, with SAS specifically being an asset
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task
