Responsibilities:
Are you seeking a PhD project combining geophysical inverse modeling and geological modeling to improve our understanding of subsurface structures – with an application to the highly relevant topic of geothermal reservoir exploration? Then a position in this project might be appealing to you:
Your responsibility will be to develop new strategies combining geological and geophysical inverse models in a probabilistic workflow in order to produce meaningful subsurface models that allow for uncertainty quantification. This includes working with local geological data for producing geological models and results from passive seismic campaigns. Additionally, the processing of gravity data will be in your area of responsibility. You will be part of a large project, the EU funded project GeoHEAT, that involves collaboration with partners from industry and academia from all over Europe. The project requires traveling to different meeting and fieldwork locations in Europe.
We actively support the publication of the results of your scientific work in articles and at conferences. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to develop a teaching portfolio and to contribute to our Bachelor and Master degree programs through assisting in lectures and exercises, as well as overseeing the completion of final theses.
