Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

The mission of the Molecular Imaging and Theranostics laboratory focuses on research aimed at improving diagnostic imaging, targeted drug and mRNA delivery, and theranostic (concurrent therapy and diagnostics) approaches for a range of cardiovascular diseases.
We are seeking an experienced Research Assistant with experience in performing beginner-level research in a health science field or discipline, including research experience in histology, animal work, flow cytometry, molecular biology and biochemical techniques.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The essential skills to succeed in this role are:

  • Research experience in histology, animal work, flow cytometry, molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
  • A background in classical wet lab techniques is required, such as ELISAs, molecular biology, flow cytometry, microscopy and mouse handling.
  • The ability to work with independence and as part of a team closely with our postdocs.

Responsibilities:

KEY DUTIES

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Perform biological, cell biological and molecular techniques, in particular flow cytometry, immunoblotting, ELISA as well as RT-PCR.
  • Recombinant protein production.
  • Perform Histological and Immunohistological tissue preparation, staining, and microscopy, as well as critical data analyses.
  • Share responsibility for laboratory maintenance, including administrative tasks such as data management and inventory maintenance.
  • Aid other group members in developing improved techniques or procedures.
  • Prepare materials for reports to be written by grant principals and staff on the research project.
  • Collect tissue and culture samples, stain and prepare slides and perform tests and assays.
  • Record and consolidate research data.
  • Proactive attendance at meetings associated with research.
  • This list is not exhaustive or limited to the above day-to-day operational tasks.
