PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of research methodology including qualitative, quantitative, and statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of research ethics including research confidentiality and privacy.
  • Knowledge of human brain anatomy and brain function concepts.
  • Knowledge of non-invasive neuroimaging concepts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology in the scope of the research field.
  • Ability to review and interpret applicable reports.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software.
  • Ability to use advanced microcomputer software such as database, statistical, or spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities:

Under general direction, assists the Principal Investigator and research team with all research activities to support the successful completion of the CIHR supported project. Provides support to various research aspects in the development of a clinical neuroimaging research program focusing on brain health in aging and dementia. Responsibilities include data preparation, assistance with statistical analysis and result presentation, and administrative support such as coordinating research meetings, planning agendas, and recording meeting minutes. Conducts literature reviews, ethics application and grant proposal preparation, research dissemination, and knowledge translation as instructed.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with completion and submission of ethics applications, the development of data collections, and conducts preliminary literature reviews for the research project as required.
  • Assists in the collection and recording of research data by utilizing computer spreadsheet, statistics and database applications, gathering and checking data and developing appropriate links and formulae for spreadsheets and databases; performs preliminary statistical analysis and analysis results preparation; summarizes information and generates reports using word processing and presentation graphics software applications.
  • Supports new research generation and knowledge dissemination activities through the preparation of grant proposals, research presentations and posters, project summaries and manuscripts for publication.
  • Recruits research participants for the assigned area consistent with the scope of the research study. Determines suitability based on established inclusion/exclusion criteria. Obtains informed consent; maintains related records.
  • Instructs study participants on required subject-specific research procedures; reviews procedures with the participants and provides additional information, as required.
  • Provides other administrative support functions including arranging internal/external meetings as required by booking rooms, notifying participants, confirming attendance, ordering catering, preparing agenda, conferences and seminars; prepares and distributes handouts and overheads; makes travel arrangements as necessary; maintains and organizes appointment calendars; records, prepares and distributes minutes and agenda; follows up on action items as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline including neuroscience, neuroimaging, biomedical sciences, life sciences, or health informatics and one (1) year recent related experience working in a life science laboratory including experience with biomedical dataset management and statistical analysis, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
