Description:
Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The position will involve conducting research in set theory and infinite combinatorics under the supervision of Dr. Iian Smythe.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in upper-level undergraduate mathematics courses, including MATH-3101 and MATH-4403, or equivalent.
- Access to laptop required.
Responsibilities:
- The assistant will study the relevant mathematical literature, conduct searches through databases for related results, consider a variety of examples, and work towards proving new mathematical results.
- They will be required to type-up and present their work in regular meetings throughout the term of the position.
