Description:
UPMC MAGEE-WOMENS HOSPITAL IS SEEKING A CASUAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT – BASIC SCIENCE TO SUPPORT THE OVARIAN CANCER LAB!
We are looking for a Research Assistant to join a busy ovarian cancer research lab at Magee-Womens Research Institute. Our laboratory focuses on the study of ovarian cancer with the goal of developing new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches. We focus on study therapeutic resistance mechanisms related to cancer cell biology and the tumor immune microenvironment.

This position will work Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Hours will be flexible as dictated by scientific needs. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, biology, or other basic science.
- Comfortability handling lab rats preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, label, store and dispose of reagents, and calibrates equipment for research projects.
- Assist in obtaining educational resources necessary to perform and interpret research and to remain abreast in research area of function.
- Perform approved research projects according to defined protocols and procedures including appropriate collection, recording, storage, and analysis of data, and reporting of results.
- Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.
- Follow appropriate research policies and procedures including all applicable laws and regulations and maintains scientific integrity including accurate data storage
